Tube Preamps are a necessity for bridging the gap between the analog and digital worlds, especially when recording. Digital recording is very unforgiving of overloads, and a tube stage adds both warmth and a safety factor. ART's popular Tube MP has spawned an entire copycat industry!  It features a 12AX7 tube selected for low-power operation, and even provides phantom power for condenser mics.  While this little "black box" can't outperform higher-end preamps like the Speakeasy Tube Preamp, its bang-for-the-buck appeal is overwhelming.  This is one tool that should be in every recording musician's bag!

[Note from BW: I still use a Dual MP -- essentially, two Tube MP's in a single rack mount -- in my stage rig, to warm the sound of my digital sample playback synths.  I've been using the system for over five years.]

Combining a tube preamp with a digital audio interface is a natural "next step."  ART took their popular Tube MP Project Series preamp, and added a USB audio interface.  This model features a built-in limiter with disable, a high-pass filter, selectable low or high impedance to match the needs of mics and line level devices, and a stackable case design.  It's also a "second generation" MP preamp, with improved performance.

The Tube MP Project Series with USB installs into Windows (98SE, 2000, XP, Vista) and Mac OS (9.1, 10.x) systems without the need for added drivers; the OS already has native support.
